Last week I finished cycling in Srilanka from Kandy to Jafna- a distance of almost 500 kms. in 4 days with other 64 cyclist friends from Uk, Australia,USA, India & Srilanka sharing same passions of cycling and charity. 20 of them were women- women power

This was a CHARITY RIDE for Green memorial hospital in Manipay ( Jaffna ), a 150 yrs. old medical school, one of the earliest teaching hospitals in Southeast Asia. This hospital was damaged and remained closed during the Srilankan civil war for a long time. A group of volunteers and doctors are bringing it back to life by renovating its departments, buildings and donating equipment by collecting funds. For me It was nice to be a part of hospital upliftment project on this 7th ride. ( www.Ride4ceylon.com)

On the last day, we rode 150 kms. starting at 4.30 am. We were welcomed at Green memorial hospital with traditional drums , musical instruments & mouth watering Srilankan food.

Thanks to Superb management by a team of dedicated volunteers & Srilankan police for safety and enjoyment.

Srilanka is a beautiful country with clean roads, simple people & traditions. It is a worth visiting country that has many connections to India for centuries.
